The Base of the Menorah Lights up as well as the top. One side of the base has a white sticker, the other side has a yellow sticker. According to the factory at 75 mph you should be fine driving. However we have not tested it in different conditions. We would suggest to face it the thin way so that the wind is not crashing against it. To strap it down if you feel safer ..under these magnet panels there is a space you can push a strap through there to tie it to the car
