In this limited edition serigraph Shemuel Katz depicts the Western Wall of Jerusalem. The perspective and the vividness of colour serves to highlight the vibrancy of the biblical tradition. The dissonance between the contemporary style and traditional theme illustrates the interplay between secular societal trends and the upkeep of traditional Judaic culture. This juxtaposition is furthered by the modern dress of the crowd, and contrasted against the ancient architecture of Herod's wall. The whimsical pastel tones help usher in the idea of cultural unity.
